DIK Members’ Day on Friday 2 October 2026
For the DIK Members’ Day, we have chosen Hasselt University, situated on the outskirts of the capital of Belgian Limburg.
During the morning, you are invited to attend a lecture on artificial intelligence entitled ‘US and Chinese AI unleashed’, delivered by an expert in the field, Prof. Dr. Ir Luc Claesen.
We have chosen Energyville as our starting point; this is also where we will take our first guided tour in the afternoon. Energyville is the leading innovation hub for research into sustainable energy and smart energy systems. The research centre is at the forefront of developing groundbreaking technology and knowledge to facilitate the transition towards energy efficiency, decarbonisation and sustainable urban development.
For the second guided tour, we’ll head to Hasselt University’s Digital Future Lab. Here, you’ll discover how researchers are building the technology of tomorrow. The lab focuses on areas of applied computer science, such as how people and technology communicate with one another, collaboration between humans and AI, secure and connected digital working, and digital production and interactive materials.

We’ll round off the day with an optional dinner in Hasselt city centre.
